For Halloween this year Ryan and I went to my parent house for our annual Halloween Party with the family! We ate some delicious soup and food and afterwards we went trick or treating with some of the kids! I think they had a great time and loved getting scared by Ryan. They have a good time together teasing each other. While we were out there were some crazy boys that were throwing water balloons at people and of course some of us got hit. RUDE! Hopefully the phone call to the police helped catch those little rascals.
Ryan and I dressed up as Mickey and Minnie Mouse and loved how our costumes turned out. We made our mouse ears and bow and I was so grateful mom found the material for my skirt. She used her skilled and sewed it up for me real fast! I found my yellow flats at Fashion Corner in Draper for $18.00!
Anyway, we had a good time together and ate way too much chocolate.
Hope everyone else had a fun and spooky Halloween.
Not only is it my favorite time of the year, its my favorite Sunday of the year....
Happy Conference Weekend everyone!!
Ryan and I are very excited to listen to some inspired men that help lead and guide us in our life together as a family and as disciples of Christs church! What a good time to relax and receive some divine inspiration.
We had to plan out our treats for the sessions!
Bright and early this morning we enjoyed some delicious Reese's PB cups.
Holy crap....They are lovely.
Even More delicious.....
Second session we enjoyed our homemade Spinach and Artichoke dip!
To make yourself
-You will need-
1 8Oz pkg Cream Cheese
1/2 Can Or(7oz) Artichoke Hearts, drained and chopped
1 1/2 C Frozen Chopped Spinach
1/4 C Mayo
1/2 C Parmesan Cheese
1/2 C Mozzarella Cheese
3 Cloves of Garlic
1/2 teaspoon of dried Basil
A dash of salt and pepper
-mix together-
Place in pie dish and place some more cheese on top!
Bake in oven @ 350 degrees for 25 minutes or until top is browned.
Enjoy with veggies or chips!
Anyway, while we were nourishing our body with all of these amazing high caloric treats and dip we also nourished our minds and spirit!
Some of the things I took note to in my journal were not very helpful now that I am blogging about this....lol (I've never been good at taking good notes.) I am going to post the two talks I really enjoyed.
These were my absolute favorite and have some pretty inspiring things they said.....
If you didn't a chance to listen today, here they are for your enjoyment.
Elder Jeffrey R. Holland
"The First Great Commandment"
President Henry B. Eyring
"Where is the Pavilion"
Thomas S. Monson President of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints
"The age of young men to serve missions is now 18 and for women it is 19 years of age"
" Take an inventory of your blessings large and small."
"Never ignore the prompting to serve others."
"May we be tolerant and Loving"
Some of you may think I am silly for posting about Conference, but I really do love watching it and wanted to write my feelings down so I would remember what I felt today while I was listening to the things they had to say.
I found this Pin today and really liked it.
I know I am not perfect and will never be. I realize I do not know everything, but I do know how I feel when I serve others and when I live the gospel to the best of my ability. I have faith and I have hope!
I live it and love it.
Thanks mom and dad for all you've taught me. I love you.
Spray frying pan with some oil of choice on medium heat. Place corn tortilla in pan, top with cheese, black beans and a bit more cheese on top. Place 2nd tortilla on top and cook until cheese is melted. Flip and cook until tortilla becomes a bit crispy.
1 hr before I usually start my brown rice in my rice cooker. I ususally don't measure the amount of chopped cilantro or lime I mix in. Just use your judgement and use what you would like.
Top with diced ripe avocado, tomatoes and fresh homemade salsa.
This year I decided to hurry and get two tomato plants in the ground. Don't judge, my garden isn't all nice and landscaped and hardly the size I want or need it. I didn't care this year...I just needed to get them in the ground. I wanted some tomatoes this year so here they are probably 7 wks along.
We had a good time together and love going to these games for free with moms hookups at work! Mom invited us to go with her cuz dad had to work. We had a great old time watching all the interesting people around us. We couldn't stop laughing at the weird things people were doing. Definitely the best place to people watch!
I've never seen so many young kids chewing, it made me want to barf. SICK SICK SICK!!!!
Before the game we went to Red Lobster for dinner and enjoyed our yummy food. Of course we all ate too much. For $14.99 each we all got a soup, salad, entree and dessert! AMAZING DEAL
After the game they had a firework show and it was the best show we have seen this year for sure!
They seem very happy together and make a great couple.
I am very grateful Dallas found a great girl to marry!
Amanda and I were supposed to find a black dress and wear these yellow sashes.
I wasn't really sure how I was supposed to wear it. We didn't recieve any instructions, so this is what I came up with and come to find out it wasn't the way I was supposed to wear it. hahaha
Remember our ugly blue and brown basement?!?!?!?!?!?
Well, goodbye ugly blue carpet!
Remember the ugly salon that was here?!?!?!??!?!?!?!?!?
Goodbye ugly salon!!!!! :)
and bathroom
and fireplace.
Our garage was a lifesaver during this project! It was a ginormous mess.
We painted the brick
Laid new flooring
Percy, Juicy and Ryan working hard
and Amanda was a huge help when Ryan's friends couldn't be there!
There were many late nights configuring measurements.
The night Ryan and his friend "Juicy" (Cody) finished the flooring!
The cabinets are finally in, refinished and out of the garage!
These are the original cabinets and counter top that was there when we moved in. Ryan's cousin Jake and friend Miguel painted and glazed the cabinets. They also refinished the counter tops with a kit that makes them look like a fancy marble! They turned out amazing.
This is the track lighting we put in. Ryan had to patch a lot of the ceiling, re-mud and paint.
The sink with the new backing on the counter! LOVE how it looks.
Getting closer.....
Four weeks later and this is what you get!!
My new updated salon and basement
-I LOVE IT-
Ryan worked SO hard the past couple weeks to get this salon in for me.
I never knew how handy my husband was and I don't think he knew either. I know he is very proud of his work and loves showing everyone that comes around!
Ryan and I thank all of our family, friends, our Realtor and YouTube that helped us make this possible!
There are no words to explain how grateful I am to Ryan for all his support and love he shows me.
