Timpanogos
Today Ryan, myself and another couple decided to hike to the Timpanogos Caves. Once we arrived, there was an hour and a half wait to start the hike. We ended up going over to the river across the street and conducting our first boating races down the river with sticks. Ryan won most of them against our friend and I ended up winning one as well! We had a lot of fun playing in the water for that hour and a half.
We finally were able to start hiking up the side of the mountain. I think we were a bit unprepared for this hike. It was a tid bit cold and we could have used some trail mix or something to give us some more energy. I really didn't know what this hike was all about. I don't remember going when I was younger, but it definitely was up hill all the way and more strenuous than I ever imagined. Working out and doing 200 lbs leg presses the past two days wasn't the greatest idea in the book before this hike. I was dying in other words. My legs were not moving very well up the trail and I never thought I would have a problem doing this hike. We finally arrived after our 1.5 mile hike and I felt so accomplished! We made it.
We had to wait awhile to start our tour in the caves, but we ended up getting in 10 minutes early! The caves were amazing. I have never seen anything like them. There was a lot to learn about the formations and the water in the cave. It's amazing how everything is dependent on something else or it will no longer continue to live. I never knew caves are dependent on water to keep them creating the Stagtites and Stagmites. It was just crazy to see everything in there. It was so cold too. That's another thing we forgot. I was so happy that our friends are prepared for us as well! They had the jackets and Gatorade! We were very grateful for them.
Ryan and I had so much fun once we were done! I'm not sure what was worse...hiking up hill or walking down hill.
